At our Head Office in Aarhus, we focus on the development and growth of JYSK. Our various departments, including HR, IT, Sales and Expansion, and Retail Development, work together towards the common goal of supporting and enhancing our stores.
JYSK opened its first store on Silkeborgvej in Aarhus in 1979. Since then, we have grown into a global company with over 3,400 stores and +31.000 employees in 48 countries and counting.
JYSK is part of the family-owned Lars Larsen Group, which also includes companies like ILVA, Bolia, and SENG.

The name JYSK is significant to us as a company, reflecting our identity and values.
The Danish word "jysk" was also meaningful to our founder, Lars Larsen, when he opened his first stores under the name JYSK SENGETØJSLAGER. It was later shortened to JYSK, which is our name today.
"Jysk" means someone or something originating from the Danish peninsula called Jutland. People from Jutland are generally considered to be hard-working, down-to-earth, and reliable.
Our Scandinavian roots form the foundation of how we do business. We are a value-driven company based on Scandinavian principles such as honesty and respect - both towards customers and colleagues.
